In Los Angeles, Kevin and Damon are two best friends who work as house cleaners and aspiring club promoters; Kevin also aspires to make music and get a steady income to support himself and his young daughter Destiny. The two of them are dropped from a promotion gig by Kyle and his gang (Guile and Larry) due to Damon having illicit involvement with Guile's cousin. While the two of them are working at a mansion, Kevin is informed by his childhood friend and current supervisor Venus that he and Damon will be fired due to cameras catching them goofing off on the job. Damon finds out that the mansion they are cleaning belongs to LeBron James, who is in India on a two-week meditation retreat, and proposes that he and Kevin host a party there for LeBron's celebrity contacts.

Played by Barry Diamond and Michael Pniewski, they're only referred to as "Cop #1" and "Cop #2" in the credits, though Robin Harris' Pops reads their badge names as Boyd and what sounds like Warnoski. The two get their comeuppance in a mid-credits scene when the roof blown off the house in the film's opener flattens them. Unfortunately, Lawrence has had some well-publicized personal struggles. He was banned from NBC programs in 1994 after making exceedingly rude jokes while hosting "Saturday Night Live." Besides being sued by Tisha Campbell in 1997, he's had several other problems, as detailed in The Washington Post. In 1999, he collapsed from heat exhaustion and was in a coma for three days. The multi-talented, charismatic star still acts occasionally, with a recent role in the 2021 season of BET's series, "Bigger." Play was briefly married to actress Shari Headley, with whom he has one child.

That movie, "House Party," spawned several sequels and a host of imitators. Plot-wise, it's like any other film where a teenager hosts a party full of whacky hijinks while parents are out of town. Still, 37 “no” votes, while a break from Washington’s ironclad support for the Jewish state, fell short of the opposition bloc progressives had hoped to muster.
The idea for House Party started with a song.
Venus volunteers to run the party in their absence, and she and Kevin kiss. Kid Cudi sneaks Damon and Kevin into an Illuminati convention where they successfully steal the ring, but are exposed when they inadvertently invoke God's name. The Illuminati force them into a gladiator fight, but Kid Cudi sacrifices himself to allow them to live, entrusting them with a poem he wrote for LeBron's eyes only. Teen rappers Kid 'n Play throw a major bash in order to show off their mad skills, but one member of the duo has to sneak his way there after being grounded by his father. While Kid 'n Play were the headliners in House Party, the rest of its appealing cast helped sell Hudlin's hilarious vision as well. Now retired from acting, Minter maintains a presence on social media such as Facebook, and was formerly the CEO and designer at KJO Bags.
While all Democrats voted in favor of aid to Ukraine and all but Ms. Tlaib supported funding to Taiwan, 37 left-leaning Democrats defected to vote against the Israel aid bill. They said before the vote that they opposed unfettered aid to Israel that could be used in its offensive in Gaza. The opposition to the Israel aid represented a minority of Democrats, but reflected the deep resistance to unconditional aid and the divisions in the party on Gaza. Representative Jamie Raskin of Maryland represented a notable new “no” vote among Democrats, and other standouts included Representatives Donald S. Beyer Jr. of Virginia, Earl Blumenauer of Oregon and John Garamendi of California.

Based on her dance background and her experiences in university, it was Johnson who suggested adding a dance battle to the film, which ultimately became one of the movie's most memorable moments. While he was still a student at Harvard University in the early 1980s, Reginald Hudlin came up with the idea for a short film that would eventually morph into the feature-length House Party after listening Luther Vandross’s 1982 hit "Bad Boy/Having a Party." Eugene Allen played Groove and Daryl Mitchell played Chill, two friends of Kid and Play.

He went on to become the star of his own 1990s eponymous sitcom and even went on to several feature film roles, including the popular Bad Boys action franchise alongside Will Smith. Yet another House Party cast member who also has experience in the music business (among other various avenues of the entertainment industry) is D.C. Young Fly, who, also like Scott Mescudi, has played himself before — namely in his 2016 acting and feature film debut #DigitalLivesMatter. He would follow that up with the star-studded holiday comedy Almost Christmas, Mario van Peebles’ action thriller Armed, Netflix’s The Trap, and the 2019 sequel to the stoner movie favorite, How High. There is just as much talent in front of the cameras in one of the biggest 2023 movies, too, as we will explain in our breakdown of who plays whom in the new House Party cast, along with a reminder of where you may have seen them from.

She is also a major spokesperson for the American Cancer Society, according to Celebs Age Wiki. Out of the innumerable amount of cinematic genres and subgenres that exist these days, the “party movie” is one that I never would have expected to see inspire any remakes or reboot. However, out of the many great party movies from over the years, I suppose the most likely candidate for such treatment would be the most quintessential title of them all — House Party.
LeBron James is producing an all-new House Party.
As Pop, he was the hard-edged disciplinarian trying to keep his son out of trouble, and coming down hard when his rules weren't obeyed. He's last seen just before the credits roll, preparing to punish Kid for his night of debauchery. After House Party, Witherspoon remained incredibly active in both film and television. He was perhaps best known for playing a pair parental figures, in the classic comedy Friday and on the sitcom The Wayans Bros. While those roles stand out, his ubiquity in both film and television over the past couple of decades meant you almost couldn't miss him if you tried. He also remained active as a stand-up comic, touring as recently as 2011.
When two friends find themselves down on their luck and strapped for cash, they see their newfound access to the NBA star’s mansion as an opportunity to make some money while also making a name for themselves as party promoters. SoirĂ©e, there are plenty of A-listers that make the rounds at this house party, running the gamut from actor and screenwriter Lena Waithe to entrepreneur Mark Cuban. The most special cameo of the film, however, might be the brief appearance of the original franchise stars, Kid ‘n Play, who steal the show in a zany party scene that won’t soon be forgotten. Much like the film itself, the casting process for House Party all started with a song.
Thirty-nine Democrats had voted “no” on Friday on the rule to allow the foreign aid package to come to the House floor, a target that progressives just missed on Saturday on the Israel bill. Fourteen of those Democrats voted on Saturday in favor of aid to Israel, while 12 Democrats who voted to allow the package on the floor on Friday then cast votes against the funding itself. The rapper Big Sean appears as himself in the film and is instrumental in helping the protagonist Kevin find a new career. After hearing Kevin’s beats play at the party, Big Sean hires him to produce beats for his music, ensuring that Kevin can provide for himself and his daughter. Walter Emanuel Jones rose to prominence playing Zach Taylor, the original Black Power Ranger in Mighty Morphin Power Rangers, a role that he cheekily references during his scene in House Party.
The film was a critical and popular success, spawning sequels and, decades later, a remake that's being produced by LeBron James. After the film, Kid pursued an acting career both in front of and behind the camera — and not just in the "House Party" sequels and in "Class Act," which also stars Play. For example, Kid appeared on the sitcom "Sister, Sister," voiced a few characters in two episodes of the Adult Swim animated series, "Black Dynamite," and has provided voices in video games. This year marks the 30th anniversary of the classic coming-of-age comedy House Party. Already a working stand-up at the time of House Party's release, Lawrence was plucked from his early movie days by mogul Russell Simmons to host the groundbreaking HBO series Def Comedy Jam. While working on that show, he launched his own sitcom, Martin, which was a huge hit, making a star of its lead.
While the scene is understandably absurd, we’d welcome seeing her stoned pitch come to fruition. We actually still get a kick thinking about a young Martin Lawrence being told in the movie that he has "dragon breath." And we can't be the only ones who have actually done the Kid 'n Play dance routine at a party or two (even as a joke). It's in the vein of such nostalgia that many would-be viewers will be watching the Lebron James-produced reboot when it debuts. House Party writer/director Reginald Hudlin and his brother Warrington, who is also a producer on the movie, appeared in front of the camera, too.
